“Song of the Bandits”: A Historical Action-Thriller with a Touch of Romance
Song of the Bandits is directed by Hwang Jun-hyeok and written by Han Jeong-hoon. It is scheduled to be released on Netflix on September 22, 2023. It tells the story about a group of bandits who fight for the settlement of Korea. It’s set in the 1920s during the Japanese occupation of Korea.
Song of the Bandits Trailer Teases an Action-Packed Melodrama
The year is 1920. Gando is a lawless land in China where Japanese money and Joseon people have gathered. A group of bandits ride horses across a barren wasteland, armed with swords and spears. They attack a Japanese convoy, fighting off the soldiers and stealing their money. The bandits are led by Lee Yoon, a former Joseon soldier who turned to banditry after his family was killed. Lee Yoon and his bandits fight off a group of Japanese soldiers. They are outnumbered, but they are determined to protect what is valuable to them.
The poster is really intriguing. Lee Yoon, the main character, standing alone in the wilderness. He has a determined look on his face, and the text “Live to survive, steal to protect” he’s willing to do whatever it takes to protect his people.
Kim Nam Gil as Lee Yoon, a Korean who serves under the Japanese military but eventually defects to become a bandit.
Seo hyun plays Nam Hee-shin, a woman who disguises herself as a man and works for the Japanese government.
Yoo Jae-myung plays Lee Chung-soo, a former army commander who now leads the Korean settlement in Jiandao, China.
Lee Hyun-wook plays Lee Gwang-il, a Japanese military officer who is hostile to Lee Yoon.
