On August 29, 2024, LE SSERAFIM, the up-and-coming K-pop girl group, threw a showcase for their new mini-album, CRAZY, at Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul. During the event, Sakura, one of the members, really wowed the crowd with a strong performance of their new main track.
With CRAZY, LE SSERAFIM wants listeners to let go and be spontaneous. The group is all about telling fans to “go crazy” with them, without worrying about whether everything will turn out perfectly or if they need to show a flawless image. Instead, they’re all about jumping into their passions and experiences with full enthusiasm.
The title track, ’CRAZY,’ is an EDM house song with cool lyrics like “백만 볼트 전기 it’s pumping” (which means “One million volt thunderbolt, it’s pumping”). The song has a catchy chorus and interesting chord patterns, making it both stylish and engaging.
The mini-album is making huge waves on YouTube. Just hours after dropping, the music video for the title track “CRAZY” hit a massive milestone, racking up over 18 million views by 2:39 PM on August 31st—just 21 hours after its release.
The video quickly shot to the top of YouTube’s trending list worldwide, snagging the number one spot in 41 countries and regions, including the United States and Canada (both 2nd). By 9 AM on August 31st, it was still holding that top position.
Not stopping there, the music videos for the album’s other tracks, “Pierrot” and “1-800-hot-n-fun,” also made waves, coming in at 4th and 22nd on the trending list. This really shows how popular the album is.
Le Sserafim’s performances of “CRAZY” and “1-800-hot-n-fun” on KBS2’s “Music Bank” made a big impact too, landing 19th and 24th on YouTube’s trending list worldwide. Impressively, the “CRAZY” performance even broke into the top 10 in English-speaking countries like Canada (6th), the UK (8th), and the United States (8th)—which is pretty rare for a K-pop group’s music show performance.
On “Music Bank,” Le Sserafim wowed viewers with their voguing dance and live vocals. Their full performance clip, posted on the “Music Bank” Naver TV channel, got the most views out of all the artists on the show. Plus, the “CRAZY” performance video that went up on the YouTube channel “Studio Choom” at 10 PM the same day is quickly approaching 1 million views.
Le Sserafim’s new album is also making a splash on international charts. By 9 AM on August 31st, it debuted at number 2 on the “Worldwide iTunes Album” chart and landed in the top 10 on the iTunes “Top Album” charts in 23 countries, including Japan, the United States, and Canada. The album even topped the charts in 11 countries, such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Indonesia.
