Actress Jeon Jong Seo has finally opened up about the controversy over her facial expressions that arose early in her career.
During an appearance on the entertainment show “짠한형 신동엽” (Salty Brother Shin Dong Yup) released on Feb. 26, Jeon reflected on the past controversy.
Shin Dong Yup brought up the issue, saying, “I heard that Jeon Jong-seo is actually cute, charming, and very easygoing. But in the past, she was briefly criticized for her facial expressions.“
In response, Jeon revealed, “At that time, my father was diagnosed with a rare disease (cerebellar atrophy). While I was working, I felt that one side of me was rotting away while the other side was doing well.“
Regarding why she didn’t clarify the situation sooner, she explained, “Everyone has their own circumstances. I thought that there’s no need to necessarily clarify any misunderstandings or rumors. Good things and bad things come together.“
Jeon, who lost her father to the disease last February, also expressed her longing for him. She said, “When my father was alive, we used to kiss all the time. I was a daddy’s girl, and my father was a daughter’s fool.“
In 2018, Jeon drew controversy when she arrived at Incheon International Airport to attend the 71st Cannes Film Festival. She was seen covering her face with clothes and making uncomfortable expressions in front of the press.
Some criticized her for having “star disease,” to which her agency at the time explained, “She thought it was a private departure, but she was surprised to see so many reporters waiting. She is a rookie actress who was experiencing everything for the first time, so she didn’t handle the situation very well.“
Meanwhile, Jeon Jong-seo’s new drama, “Wedding Impossible,” premieres today, February 26, 2024. She stars as Na Ah Jung in the series, which is available to watch on Viki with subtitles in English, Czech, German, Tagalog, and more..
