Announcement of Divorce
Claudia Kim (39, Kim Su Hyun), the popular actress known for her roles in both Korean dramas and Hollywood films, has recently divorced Matthew Shampine, the former CEO of WeWork Korea. YG Entertainment shared the news on September 23rd.
Claudia and Matthew were married for five years, having tied the knot in December 2019. They welcomed their first daughter in September of the following year.
Official Statement
In the official statement, YG Entertainment said, “After careful consideration, Claudia Kim has decided to end her marriage. She has finalized the divorce by mutual agreement. Both parties will be going their separate ways but will continue to support each other. We kindly ask that malicious comments and speculative reports be refrained from as this is a decision made after much thought and discussion.”
Claudia Kim’s Career
Claudia Kim, a former model, began her acting career in 2006 with the drama “Queen of the Game.” She has since appeared in numerous dramas, including “The Fugitive: Plan B,” “Standby,” “7th Grade Civil Servant,” “Monster,” “Gyeongseong Creature Seasons 1,” and “The Atypical Family.” She made her Hollywood debut in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and has also starred in films like “The Dark Tower” and “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.” Her upcoming drama, “God’s Beads,” is expected to be released in 2025. And the movie “A Normal Family” is set to release on October 9, 2024.
Matthew Shampine’s Background
Matthew Shampine, who is 42, was born in Korea but was adopted by a family in New Jersey. He graduated from the College of New Jersey with a degree in computer science. Before leading WeWork Korea until 2019, he worked as a programmer at Mercedes-Benz USA. Currently, he is the CEO of DNKorea, a proptech company, and runs the real estate brokerage platform “Dongnae.”
