Newlywed home hits market for 5.1 Million USD
South Korean power couple Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin are parting ways with their opulent marital home. The actors have listed their penthouse in the exclusive Achiul Village for a cool 7 billion won ($5.1 M).
This marks a significant increase from the 4.8 billion won ($3.5 M) they paid for the property in 2020. The penthouse’s value has risen considerably in just a few years.
Located in the Walkerhill Podoville complex, the spacious unit boasts a sprawling 330㎡ (3,552 sq ft) of living area. It offers the ultimate in luxury living with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a rooftop garden – perfect for enjoying the outdoors.
Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, who captured hearts with their on-screen chemistry in “Crash Landing on You,” tied the knot in March 2022. They moved into the penthouse shortly after their wedding and welcomed their son later that year.
The Achiul Village, known as an artists’ haven, is a popular choice for celebrities. Their soon-to-be former neighbors include JYP Entertainment founder Park Jin-young, singer Jo Sung-mo, and actress Oh Yeon-seo.
Both Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin are known for their astute real estate investments. Hyun Bin has a proven track record of success. In 2009, he purchased a luxury villa in Seoul’s Dongjak-gu district for 2.7 billion won ($2 M) and flipped it for a hefty profit, selling it for 4 billion won ($2.9 M) in 2021. He also undertook a redevelopment project, demolishing an apartment building in Cheongdam-dong and rebuilding it as a neighborhood facility. This shrewd move is estimated to have increased the property’s value to over 100 billion won ($7.3 M).
Son Ye-jin’s Real Estate Prowess
Son Ye-jin is no stranger to the real estate game either. In 2015, she acquired a building in Seoul’s Mapo-gu district for 9.35 billion won ($6.8 M) and sold it for 13.5 billion won ($9.8 M) three years later. Her portfolio also includes a building in Sinsa-dong, purchased in 2020 for 16 billion won ($11.6 M). Last year, she further solidified her reputation as a savvy investor by selling a luxury villa in Samseong-dong for 4.8 billion won ($35 M), netting a profit of 1.8 billion won ($1.3 M).
