Prepare to Fall in Love with IU and Park Bo Gum in ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’, Arriving on Netflix Soon
Netflix has officially announced the upcoming Korean drama “When Life Gives You Tangerines,” starring singer and actress IU and actor Park Bo Gum. The announcement came on January 30 KST, and fans are thrilled to see this collaboration. IU, who has previously worked with director Kim Won Seok in the drama “My Mister,” will now play a romantic role set against the beautiful backdrop of Jeju Island.
The story of “When Life Gives You Tangerines” revolves around Ae Sun, a spirited and optimistic woman from Jeju Island, and Gwan Sik, a dedicated and hardworking man. Despite facing challenges, Ae Sun remains hopeful and dreams of becoming a poet. Gwan Sik, on the other hand, may not be the best at expressing his feelings, but his love for Ae Sun is unwavering.
The drama is directed by Kim Won Suk, the creative mind behind hit dramas like “Misaeng” and “Signal,” and the screenplay is written by acclaimed screenwriter Im Sang Choon, known for his work on “Fight My Way” and “When the Camellia Blooms.” The cast also includes Moon So Ri and Park Hae Joon.
Netflix Korea has said that “When Life Gives You Tangerines” is expected to be a great addition to their Korean original series lineup.
In addition to her role in the drama, IU recently announced her return to the music scene with her sixth mini-album, “The Winning.” The mood film for the album was released on January 30 at 12 am KST. The album will feature IU’s recent pre-release single, “Love Wins All,” which features BTS member V.
