Singer-Actress Takes on First Big-Screen Lead Role
Former Secret member and actress Jeon Hyosung is set to star in the upcoming Korean film “Bound to be a Devil” (working title.) The movie is inspired by the notorious “Busan roundabout kick incident” that shocked the nation two years ago.
Film to Explore Societal Issues Beyond the Crime
Directed by Lim Yong-Jae and produced by Firefly, “Bound to be a Devil” will delve into the broader societal implications of random violence and revenge in South Korea, rather than solely focusing on the crime itself. Notably, Kim Jin–joo, the real-life victim of the Busan incident, is serving as a script advisor, bringing her’ firsthand experiences to the film. Earlier this year, Kim Jinju published a book detailing the challenges faced by crime victims, and she will now collaborate with the director to shape the film’s narrative.
Jeon Hyosung’s Acting Challenge
Jeon Hyosung will portray the victim of “random violence” in the film, marking her first leading role on the big screen in her 15-year career. The actress, known for her roles in dramas like “Salamander Guru and the Gang,” “Cheo Yong,” “Wanted,” “Introverted Boss,” “Memorist,” “The Pure Memories of My Heart,” and the Netflix series “Celebrity,” is expected to showcase a new facet of her acting abilities through this challenging role.
