TvN’s K-drama “Jeong Nyeon” is based on a popular webtoon of the same name by Seo Ireh and Namon.
“Jeong Nyeon” is set in the 1950s, shortly after the Korean War. It tells the story of Jeong-nyeon (Kim Tae-ri), a young woman with a natural talent for singing. Jeong-nyeon dreams of becoming a Korean traditional opera singer, but she faces many challenges in her path to success.
Kim Tae-ri will star as Jeong-nyeon. She is known for her roles in films such as “The Handmaiden” and “1987” and dramas such as “Mr. Sunshine” and “Twenty-Five Twenty-One.”
Shin Ye-eun will co-star as Heo Young-seo, Jeong-nyeon’s rival. Shin Ye-eun is known for her role in the Disney+ series “Third Person Revenge.”
Ra Mi-ran will play Kang So-bok, the director of the Mae-ran Korean Traditional Opera Company. Ra Mi-ran is known for her roles in films such as “The Honest Candidate” series and dramas such as “Reply 1988” and “My Mister.”
Moon So-ri will make a special appearance as Seo Yong-rye, Jeong-nyeon’s mother. Moon So-ri is known for her roles in films such as “Peppermint Candy” and “Oasis” and dramas such as “The School Nurse Files” and “Queen Maker.”
“Jeong Nyeon” will be directed by Jung Ji-in, who directed the drama “The Red Sleeve.”

Jeong Nyeon, a young woman from Mokpo with a powerful singing voice but lacking wealth and education, dreams of riches and a life on stage. She joins a women’s traditional theater company, determined to achieve her goals. The drama follows her journey, filled with challenges, rivalries, and the pursuit of her artistic aspirations.
