“Tell Me That You Love Me” to Tell a Story of Love Across Communication Barriers
The drama tells the story of two people who fall in love despite their different communication abilities: Cha Jin Woo (Jung Woo Sung) has a hearing impairment and prefers to express himself through drawings. Jung Mo Eun (Shin Hyun Been) is an aspiring actress who expresses herself through words. Despite their differences, they fall in love.
In the newly released stills, Jung Woo Sung is transformed into Cha Jin Woo. He looks calm and collected, with a gentle expression on his face. In one still, he is teaching art to deaf students at an art center. In another, he is signing to Mo-eun, his eyes filled with love.
Jung Woo Sung Opens Up About Returning to Melodrama Genre in “Tell Me That You Love Me”
Jung Woo Sung expressed his feelings about returning to the melodrama drama for the first time in 11 years, saying, “I couldn’t match the drama schedule because I kept working on movies. I actually wanted to do a lot of melodramas.”
He continued, “Cha Jin Woo is a hearing-impaired person. Through Cha Jin Woo, those of us who communicate with sound language can feel how well we understand and how accurately we communicate the words of the other person, and whether we are not communicating in the wrong way. It is a work that has been with many stories for a long time until it was made into a drama. As an actor who had a great desire for production, I am truly happy and meaningful. I am doing my best to convey Jin-woo’s quiet but great vibration to the hearts of viewers.”
Jung Woo Sung Prepares for New Drama “Tell Me That You Love Me” by Learning Sign Language and Brushstrokes
In order to complete “Cha Jin Woo,” “sign language” is the most important thing. He said, “I paid a lot of attention to my expression so that even people who don’t know sign language can understand what they are thinking by looking at the situation. I wanted the emotions to be embedded in the gestures because sign language is also a language that expresses emotions. I prepared by talking a lot with a sign language teacher on the spot.”
He also explained, “Brushstrokes cannot be done with short-term practice. I did my best to make the brushstrokes that Cha Jin Woo has walked through his life.”

“Tell Me That You Love Me” is directed by Kim Yoon-jin, who helmed the hit drama “Our Beloved Summer,” and written by Kim Min-jung, who wrote the popular drama “Love in the Moonlight.” The drama will be available to stream on Disney+.
