Female solo artists are currently dominating the Korean music charts, with IU and BIBI leading the charge.
Since last November, female soloists have been dominating the music charts, with IU and BIBI taking over from Taeyeon, who had been in the top spot for months.
BIBI’s “Bam Yang Gang,” released on February 13th, climbed steadily up the charts and reached number one on Melon’s Top 100 just a week later. It also topped various other music sites, including YouTube Daily Chart, Apple Music Top 100, FLO, VIBE, and Bugs.
The song’s popularity was further boosted by word-of-mouth and various challenges, including one by Hyori Lee and Soyeon of (G)I-DLE.
Meanwhile, IU, known as the “chart queen,” proved her title once again with her new mini-album “The Winning.”
Released on February 20th, the album immediately took over the charts. The pre-released track “Love Wins All” claimed the top spot on Melon’s Top 100, while the double title tracks “Shopper” and “Holssi,” and the b-sides “Shh..” and “I stan U” also quickly entered the top ranks.
Even as IU and BIBI trade the number one spot, Taeyeon remains in the top ranks. Her song “To. X” has been in the top 100 of Melon for three months and is currently at number 5 as of February 26th, 10 AM EST.
Additionally, on February 25th, iChart announced that BIBI achieved the second Perfect All-Kill (PAK) of 2024 with “Bam Yang Gang,” solidifying her dominance on the Korean music scene.
