Seungri Spotted Singing BIGBANG Songs at Birthday Party
On the 8th, a video surfaced online showing Seungri singing at a birthday party believed to be for a Malaysian tycoon. The footage captured Seungri mingling with the crowd amidst cheers for BIGBANG songs. The person filming even shouted “BIGBANG, BIGBANG! Seungri” while calling his name. News of his attendance spread further when photos emerged of him posing with other partygoers.
This recent appearance in Malaysia follows Seungri’s controversial activity in January, where he was seen dancing to GD X TAEYANG’s “GOOD BOY” at an event in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, while mentioning bringing G-Dragon there someday.

Seungri’s Career
Seungri rose to fame in 2006 as a member of the hugely popular boy group BIGBANG. He was well-loved by fans and gained further recognition for his “Seungtsby” persona in the late 2010s. However, his career took a sharp turn in 2019 when he became a central figure in the Burning Sun Gate scandal.
Burning Sun Scandal and Legal Repercussions
Seungri was accused of nine crimes, including solicitation of prostitution, prostitution itself, violating the Special Act on Punishment of Sexual Crimes, habitual gambling, violating the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act, violating the Food Sanitation Act, embezzlement, violating the Special Act on Aggravated Punishment of Certain Economic Crimes, and assault. After a lengthy trial, the Supreme Court upheld his sentence of 1 year and 6 months in prison in May 2022.
While undergoing trial as a soldier, Seungri was transferred to a civilian prison after his sentence was confirmed. He served his full term and was released in February 2023. Notably, in March 2019, before the full extent of the scandal became public, Seungri announced his departure from BIGBANG and retirement from the entertainment industry, stating, “I think it’s enough for the honor of BIGBANG.”
Retirement Announcement and Continued Use of BIGBANG Fame
Despite his retirement and past transgressions, Seungri appears to be leveraging BIGBANG’s fame at overseas events. This has sparked outrage among netizens, with comments like “Why don’t you live quietly?”, “Are you trying to start a business again by laughing at such a place?”, and “If you’re going to perform at an event, why do you keep doing it with BIGBANG songs instead of your own solo songs?”
Do you think it’s appropriate for Seungri to be using BIGBANG’s fame after the Burning Sun scandal?
