On March 19, 2024, Thai singer Violette Wautier traveled to the Police Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) headquarters in Phahonyothin, Chatuchak, Bangkok, accompanied by her lawyer. She filed a complaint against individuals who photoshopped her images into pornographic content.
Lawyer Kachakorn filed the complaint under the Computer Crime Act B.E. 2560 (2017) Section 14(4) and Section 16, as well as Section 287 of the Criminal Code and the defamation charge. Violette told reporters about the incident:
“Today, I came to meet the CCIB investigators to file a complaint about being photo-shopped. Some ill-intentioned individuals photo-shopped my face onto pornographic images, both still images and video clips. I cannot identify the source of the original images, but they seem to have taken my face and photo-shopped it onto someone else’s body.
“My fans were concerned when they saw the images and sent them to my agency and me. That’s why I came to file a complaint today. This is a new incident, different from the one last year. But I was more shocked this time because it was a moving image. When I first saw the image, I felt that people who saw it might misunderstand. So today, I joined hands with my lawyer to file a complaint to bring the perpetrators to justice and to clear my name. I want to emphasize that the images and clips are not mine. I also want to warn those who share them that they will also be held liable.
“I have been photo-shopped many times before. I feel that it is a violation of my body. As a woman, I feel bad about it. I’m not angry, but I’m more hurt. I believe in the law of our country that it will help me in this matter. The clips are short, but as I said, I feel violated. Even though it’s not my real body, I feel like I’m being taken advantage of. I advise anyone who has the images to delete them and not share them, or they will be held liable under the law as well.”
Message to the perpetrators and fans:
“I want to tell the perpetrators to be prepared. For others who have been victimized like me, I urge you to come out and protect yourself. I want the perpetrators to be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
“I want to assure my fans and everyone who has seen the images that they are not mine. Thank you to those who have warned me and given me encouragement. I will stay strong in this matter.”
