The group poster for the new MBC Friday-Saturday drama “Bitter Sweet Hell,” which depicts the truth hidden within the “house shape” with the intense gazes of Kim Hee-sun, Lee Hye-young, Kim Nam-hee, Yeonwoo, and Jae-chan, has been released.
“Bitter Sweet Hell,” which will premiere on May 24 at 9:50 PM KST, is a life-oriented comic thriller about Na Young-won, a renowned family psychologist in Korea, who is threatened by an anonymous blackmailer and teams up with her mystery novelist mother-in-law to protect her family.
“Bitter Sweet Hell” is directed by Lee Dong-hyun, who showcased his delicate and immersive directing skills in “Doctor Lawyer” and “She Knows Everything,” and written by Nam Ji-yeon, who was recognized for her original ideas and fresh writing style in the web drama “So I Married an Anti-Fan.” The drama also features a solid cast of actors, including Kim Hee-sun, Lee Hye-young, Kim Nam-hee, Yeonwoo, Hwang Chan-sung, Kwon Hae-hyo, Ahn Kil Kang, Park Jae Chan, Jung Gun-joo, Shin So-yul, Jung Heon, Yang Jae-hyun, and Kim Sun-kyung, raising expectations for a new synergy drama.
In the group poster released on the 15th, Kim Hee-sun, Lee Hye-young, Kim Nam-hee, Yeonwoo, and Park Jae Chan’s meaningful relationships are intertwined, capturing attention. The group poster features the perfect family – Na Young-won (Kim Hee-sun), mother-in-law Hong Sa-gang (Lee Hye-young), husband Choi Jae-jin (Kim Nam-hee), and son Choi Do-hyun (Park Jae Chan) – along with outsider Lee Se-na (Yeonwoo), creating a strange sense of alienation.
In particular, Lee Se-na sits in the center of the luxurious dinner table set with burning candlesticks, wine, and wine glasses, surrounded by Hong Sa-gang, Choi Jae-jin, and Choi Do-hyun, exuding a different presence. In contrast, Na Young-won stands alone, separated from them, hinting at the chaos that will engulf her after she learns the hidden truth about her family.
In addition, Na Young-won, Lee Se-na, and Choi Do-hyun have expressionless faces while looking straight ahead, while Hong Sa-gang wears a strong red dress and Choi Jae-jin has a faint, enigmatic smile, creating a “polar opposite mother-son” mood that captures attention. The group poster reveals the discordance of the stranger in the family, the feeling of strangeness, and the ironic situation, raising expectations for the unique genre of “Bitter Sweet Hell,” a “life-oriented comic thriller.”
The production team said, “The actors, each with their own distinct colors, Kim Hee-sun, Lee Hye-young, Kim Nam-hee, Yeonwoo, and Jae-chan, have come together to create a unique atmosphere that has never been seen before.” “Please look forward to ‘Bitter Sweet Hell’ to see what kind of fantastic synergy the five actors, who exude charisma, experience, and fresh energy, will show together,” they added.
Meanwhile, MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Bitter Sweet Hell” will premiere on May 24 at 9:50 PM KST.
